Overview

Yobe State University (YSU), located in Damaturu, was established in 2006 to drive educational advancement and socio-economic development in North East Nigeria. It is highly regarded for its robust infrastructure, offering comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate programs across seven diverse faculties. YSU is also home to the Biomedical Research and Training Center (BioRTC), marking it as an emerging hub for scientific research.

Situated in an expanding urban campus, YSU offers students a conducive and highly subsidized academic environment. With on-campus hostels priced at just ₦6,000 per session and affordable tuition, the university ensures accessible education. Students benefit from digitized learning platforms (YSU LMS), modern science labs, and a vibrant cultural environment.

💡 Pro Tip: Admission into YSU is purely merit-driven via an online screening process. It is non-negotiable that candidates must select YSU as their First Choice. While 150 guarantees screening eligibility for many courses, those aiming for the College of Medical Sciences or the Faculty of Law should target much higher JAMB scores. Because physical screening is bypassed, candidates must be meticulous when uploading their O'Level results, Birth Certificates, and Indigene Letters to both the YSU portal and JAMB CAPS to avoid disqualification.

Admission Requirements

Candidates MUST select Yobe State University as their First Choice Institution in JAMB. If it was not initially selected, a JAMB Change of Institution is mandatory. Applicants must possess at least five (5) O'Level credit passes in relevant subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.

Direct Entry Rules

Direct Entry candidates must possess a minimum of Lower Credit in a National Diploma (ND) or an applicable NCE/IJMB result. DE applicants must apply through the YSU portal and ensure their original transcripts/results are uploaded alongside their O'Level certificates.

Post UTME Screening Format

YSU conducts a purely online document screening process. Physical presence is not required. Candidates must log into the portal, generate a REMITA code, pay the screening fee, and upload clear scanned copies of their JAMB result, O'Level results, Indigene Certificate, and Birth Certificate. Uploading O'Level results to the JAMB CAPS portal is strictly mandatory.
