Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano (YMSFUEK)—formerly known as the defunct Federal College of Education, Kano—is a premier specialized federal institution. Following a 100% resource visitation score by the National Universities Commission (NUC), the institution was officially upgraded to run 28 independent degree programmes starting from the 2025/2026 academic session, effectively phasing out its legacy NCE programmes.
Located in the bustling Kofar Famfo area of Kano Municipal, the YMSFUEK campus blends rich historical architecture with modern, tech-driven learning facilities. To facilitate the smooth transition to full degree programmes, the University Management has established a staff right-placement committee, ensuring students receive top-tier academic instruction. The university operates a highly digitized student portal for course registration and fee invoicing via Remita.
💡 Pro Tip: Admission into the newly upgraded YMSFUEK requires a minimum JAMB score of 150 for Level 100 entry. Candidates must ensure they have a minimum of 5 O-Level credits, including English and Mathematics. If you previously applied for an NCE programme here, you must use the JAMB Green Card to change your application to one of their 28 new B.Ed., B.A. (Ed.), or B.Sc. (Ed.) programmes. NCE holders are highly encouraged to apply, as they are directly eligible for Level 200.
Direct Entry candidates must possess a valid National Certificate in Education (NCE). According to the university's official transition policy, those with an NCE certificate are eligible to apply directly for Level 200 of the newly approved degree programmes.
The university utilizes an online document screening system. Candidates must generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) number on the university portal to pay the screening fee. O'Level results and UTME scores must be uploaded directly to the university's portal and mirrored on the JAMB CAPS portal for validation.
