Direct Entry Rules
Direct Entry candidates must choose UNIPORT as their first choice and possess an OND/HND with at least Upper Credit, an NCE with Merit, or a minimum of two A-Level/JUPEB passes in relevant subjects. DE applicants must also participate in the university's screening exercise.
Post UTME Screening Format
UNIPORT conducts a mandatory physical Computer-Based Test (CBT) Post-UTME screening. Registration is done entirely online via Remita payment of ₦2,000. Candidates must bring only a clear copy of their printed Photo Card and a pen to the screening venue. Electronic gadgets (phones, smartwatches, etc.) and parents/guardians are strictly prohibited on campus during the exercise. UNIPORT hostels fall into four categories: General hostels (open to any student, split into separate male and female halls), Departmental hostels (reserved for students of specific departments), SUG hostels (reserved for elected Student Union Government officials), and Sports hostels (reserved for members of university sports teams).
Hostel age and condition vary meaningfully across halls, which roughly tracks the pricing tiers above. The TETFUND & NNPC Hostel (the highest-priced tier) is a purpose-built, 224-capacity block completed in 2023 by NEPL (an NNPC subsidiary) specifically to ease a documented accommodation shortage at the time, UNIPORT reported over 41,000 students living off-campus.
