Overview

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), located in Awka, Anambra State, is a prestigious federal university established in 1991. Named after the legendary Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the university is highly acclaimed across Nigeria for its robust academic programs. It operates a massive multi-campus system with specialized hubs across five locations: the core disciplines in Awka, Medicine and Health Sciences in Nnewi (Oko-Ofia), Pharmaceutical Sciences in Agulu, and Agriculture in Ifite-Ogwari.

Life at UNIZIK is dynamic, culturally vibrant, and highly competitive. The university integrates deep tech solutions into its administration, evident in its fully digitized student portals where school fees, course registrations, and clearance are strictly managed. It caters to diverse learning needs by offering traditional Full-Time programs alongside its highly patronized Continuous Education Programme (CEP), JUPEB, and Sandwich courses.

💡 Pro Tip: Admission into UNIZIK is highly sought-after. You must make it your first choice. UNIZIK does not conduct a physical Post-UTME exam; instead, they use an automated 70:30 grading formula. 70% of your aggregate comes from your JAMB score, and 30% from the O'Level grades of the 4 subjects you wrote in JAMB. If you cleared those 4 subjects in a single sitting, you get an automatic 10-point bonus! Ensure your O'Level results are properly uploaded on JAMB CAPS and cross-check your subject combinations, as errors will lead to automatic disqualification.

Admission Requirements

Candidates MUST make UNIZIK their first choice institution. Applicants must possess at least five (5) O'Level credit passes. UNIZIK calculates your screening score using a unique 70:30 automated grading formula (70% for your JAMB score, 30% for your O'Level grades based ONLY on the 4 subjects you wrote in JAMB). A 10-point bonus is awarded to candidates who obtained their O'Level credits in a single sitting.

Direct Entry Rules

Direct Entry candidates must possess OND, HND, First Degree, or A'Level in relevant disciplines. Most importantly, DE candidates must physically forward hard copies of their academic transcripts and JAMB E-slip to the Registrar's office before the screening deadline, or their admission will not be processed.

Post UTME Screening Format

UNIZIK conducts a strictly online document-based screening; candidates do NOT travel to Awka to write a physical CBT exam. Candidates register via apply.unizik.edu.ng, pay ₦2,000, and upload their O'Level results. The portal's algorithm automatically computes your aggregate score. It is absolutely mandatory to upload your O'Level results to the JAMB CAPS portal.
