JAMB Cut-Off
200+
UNIBEN strictly enforces a high baseline cut-off mark. A minimum UTME score of 200 is generally required to participate in the Post-UTME screening. However, highly competitive programs like Medicine and Surgery, Nursing, Law, Pharmacy, and Computer Science demand aggregate scores significantly higher than the baseline.

As a Federal University, pure tuition is theoretically free for undergraduate Nigerian students. However, students pay consolidated school charges covering library, laboratory, ICT, medical, sanitation, and municipal fees. Returning student fees sit at a standard baseline, while freshmen pay significantly higher consolidated fees due to mandatory onboarding levies. These fees are tiered, with Science and Medical programs commanding higher rates than Non-Science programs.

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is one of Nigeria's highly prestigious, first-generation federal universities. Established in 1970, it has grown into a massive academic powerhouse renowned for its rigorous academic standards and prolific research outputs. Over the years, UNIBEN has unbundled its core disciplines into 15 highly specialized faculties and schools, proudly hosting distinct faculties for Environmental Sciences, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, and an expansive College of Medical Sciences.
UNIBEN operates primarily out of its sprawling Ugbowo Main Campus in Benin City, with an annex at the Ekehuan Campus (home to Fine Arts and Theatre Arts). The university offers an incredibly vibrant, culturally rich, and highly competitive student life. Known universally as 'Great UNIBEN', the institution fosters strong student unionism, active social clubs, and high-level sports. The university manages student lifecycles through its highly integrated digital infrastructure, the Waeup Kofa Portal, handling everything from course registrations to 100% online clearance for incoming freshmen.
💡 Pro Tip: Securing admission into UNIBEN is strictly merit-based and highly competitive. You must make UNIBEN your First Choice institution. A minimum JAMB score of 200 is strictly enforced just to be eligible for the physical Post-UTME CBT screening. To secure admission into high-demand programs like MBBS, Nursing, or Computer Science, candidates must aim well above 250 in JAMB and perform excellently in the CBT. Remember that Medicine requires a single-sitting O'Level result. Once admitted, ensure you have a Red Background Passport photograph, valid result scratch cards, and sworn affidavits ready for the strictly online clearance process, alongside your mandatory acceptance fee.
Direct Entry candidates must possess a minimum of Merit in NCE, an ND/HND at Upper Credit level, or acceptable passes in JUPEB/A'Level in relevant subjects. They must satisfy the basic O'Level requirements and apply through the UNIBEN Kofa portal.
UNIBEN conducts a physical Computer-Based Test (CBT) for Post-UTME. Upon admission, the entire clearance process is conducted STRICTLY ONLINE via the Waeup Kofa portal (no physical campus visit required). Freshmen must upload specific credentials including a Red Background Passport photograph, O'Level Scratch Cards, a Guarantor's Letter, and sworn Affidavits for Good Conduct and Non-Membership of Secret Cults.
