About RAMATPOLY & Campus Life
Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri is a Borno State Government-owned institution with roots dating back to January 1973, when it was founded as a Government Technical College by the defunct North-Eastern State Government. It was upgraded and renamed Ramat College of Technology in April 1978 in honour of the late Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Muhammad, before gaining full Polytechnic status in August 1979. Regulated by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the institution operates across five academic schools and was ranked among the top 35 polytechnics nationally in a 2018 NBTE institutional ranking report.
The Polytechnic is located along Maiduguri-Jos Road, in a well-secured area near the Police College and Government College Maiduguri. Its programmes are affiliated with the University of Maiduguri, and the institution has run a Postgraduate Diploma through its Consultancy Unit since 2003.
