Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, widely known by its former name Port Harcourt Polytechnic, is a Rivers State Government-owned institution located in Rumuola, Port Harcourt. Established in 1991, it traces its roots to an earlier institution, the Rivers State School of Basic Studies. The Polytechnic was officially renamed in December 2016 in honor of the celebrated Nigerian writer Captain Elechi Amadi. Regulated by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), it operates under the motto 'Knowledge and Skill for Service' across eight schools, including a dedicated Institute of Legal and Global Studies.
The Polytechnic runs full-time, part-time, and weekend programmes to serve both fresh school leavers and working professionals, alongside an IJMB/A-Level remedial pathway and a Postgraduate School.
