About PUA & Campus Life

Paul University, Awka (PUA) is a private, Christian university established in 2009 by the Bishops of the five ecclesiastical provinces of the Anglican Communion. Located in the heart of Anambra State, the university is deeply committed to academic excellence, moral discipline, and the provision of affordable tertiary education. Recently, it has significantly expanded its academic portfolio, unbundling into massive specialized faculties including Medical Sciences (offering B.NSC Nursing, D.PT Physiotherapy, and B.RAD Radiography), Computing Sciences, and Engineering.

The Paul University campus provides a secure, fully residential environment conducive to focused learning and spiritual growth. The university consciously integrates practical, entrepreneurial skills into its curriculum to ensure graduates are globally competitive and self-reliant. Students engage in vibrant chapel activities, sports, and utilize well-equipped research laboratories. The university operates robust online portals to manage student lifecycles, from UTME and JUPEB screening to CEP/HND upgrades.

💡 Pro Tip: Getting admitted into Paul University is highly straightforward if you meet the minimum JAMB score of 140 and possess five relevant O'Level credits. The university welcomes candidates who did not initially choose them, provided they effect a JAMB Change of Institution. Online registration requires a ₦2,000 application fee, paid directly to specific banks based on your intended faculty. Once admitted, prepare to pay a ₦20,000 acceptance fee and a ₦5,000 portal access fee. Prospective Nursing and Law students should prepare for premium tuition tiers (₦897,000 and ₦887,000 respectively).

🎯

Admission Hack

Paul University has one of the most fragmented and dangerous fee payment systems of any private university in Nigeria. Do NOT simply ask a returning student 'which bank do I pay into?' The university strictly segregates payments by faculty: Law students MUST pay to FCMB, Nursing and Portal fees MUST go to Zenith Bank, Medical/Health Sciences MUST go to Fidelity Bank, and other faculties MUST use Millennium MFB. If you are a Nursing student and you mistakenly pay your ₦897,000 tuition into the Millennium MFB account, you will face a massive administrative nightmare to get it reversed or credited. Unlike many private universities, Paul University actively encourages and easily processes candidates who did not originally choose them in JAMB, making it an excellent, fast 'Plan B' for students who missed out on federal universities like UNIZIK.

🏠

Campus Survival

Paul University provides student hostel accommodation on its Awka campus, and hostel allocation forms part of the university's student records. The university's official payment information also recognizes hostel fees/dues as a student payment category. However, the university does not currently publish enough information online to reliably state the current hostel price, room occupancy options, allocation priority, or whether residence is compulsory for all undergraduates. Students who need a particular accommodation arrangement should confirm directly with the university before making payments.
