Main Campus
Along Zaria-Sokoto Road, Gusau
Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) is a conventional, co-educational, and research-focused public institution located in Gusau, Zamfara State. Established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2013 to expand access to quality tertiary education, FUGUS operates with the motto 'Knowledge, Innovation and Service'. The university is heavily committed to digital integration, utilizing dedicated e-Learning portals and e-Libraries. Following recent NUC accreditations, FUGUS has significantly expanded its academic footprint beyond Arts, Sciences, and Education to include a highly competitive College of Health Sciences offering Medicine & Surgery, Nursing, and Physiotherapy.
Situated along the Zaria-Sokoto Road, the FUGUS main campus provides an interactive, multicultural, and student-centered environment. The university integrates specific features related to professional and ethical responsibilities, capped with mandatory Special Skills acquisition via its Centre for Entrepreneurial Development. Students benefit from access to modern libraries, sporting activities, and standard on-campus accommodations (allocated primarily on a first-come, first-served basis).
💡 Pro Tip: Admission into FUGUS is uniquely structured with three distinct cut-off marks: Catchment Areas, Educationally Less Disadvantaged States (ELDS), and National Merit. To apply, you must ensure FUGUS is your First Choice on JAMB CAPS. While the base Catchment cut-off is 150 for courses like Humanities and Education, candidates targeting the National Merit list generally need 170. High-demand Health and Science programs strictly require higher marks: MBBS (240 Merit), Nursing (210 Merit), and Computer Science/Biochemistry (190 Merit). Candidates must ensure their O'Level results are successfully uploaded to the JAMB portal before registering via the putme.fugusau.edu.ng portal.
Direct Entry candidates must possess A-Level, ND, NCE, or IJMB certificates with the required minimum grades relevant to their chosen field, alongside the standard foundational O'Level requirements.
Post-UTME screening requires online registration via the university portal. Candidates generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) to pay the ₦2,000 fee and must ensure their O'Level results are successfully uploaded to JAMB CAPS.
