JAMB Cut-Off
150+
While the absolute minimum to apply is 150, FPI strictly enforces programmatic cut-offs. Sciences and Engineering usually demand 170+; highly competitive courses like Computer Science, Accountancy, and Mass Communication typically require scores of 200 to 230 to secure merit admission.

As a Federal Polytechnic, FPI school fees are highly subsidized and affordable. The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro (FPI) is widely regarded as one of the best and most disciplined polytechnics in Nigeria. Established by decree in 1979, the institution is renowned for its fast, uninterrupted academic calendar and zero tolerance for cultism and exam malpractice. Over the years, FPI has modernized its curriculum significantly, offering highly specialized departments in Mechatronics, Renewable Energy, Crime Management, Multimedia Technology, and Welding & Fabrication across its various schools.
Located in the serene ancient town of Ilaro in Ogun State, the FPI campus offers a highly structured and secure environment for learning. The master plan divides the institution into East and West campuses, featuring modern workshops, the Mass Communication Studios Building, an Entrepreneur Development Centre, and student hostels. Students manage their academic lifecycles through a highly efficient digital portal, which handles invoicing, fee payments via Remita, and course registrations.
💡 Pro Tip: Federal Polytechnic Ilaro is highly competitive. You MUST select them as your first choice institution in JAMB. While the baseline cut-off is 150, aim for 180+ if you are applying for high-demand courses (e.g., Computer Science demands 200+, Engineering demands 190+). The school strictly uses an online document screening process for ND Full-Time applicants—ensure the O'Level results you upload are clear, in PDF format, and perfectly match the names on your JAMB slip. For HND applicants, securing your official transcript and sending it to the FPI Registrar early is crucial for clearance.
For Higher National Diploma (HND) admissions, candidates must possess a National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit from an accredited polytechnic, alongside a minimum of one (1) year post-qualification industrial work experience. Crucially, HND applicants must request their previous institution to forward their official academic transcript under confidential cover directly to the Registrar, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
For ND Full-Time candidates, FPI conducts an online Post-UTME Screening and Validation of Credentials rather than a physical CBT exam. Candidates must pay the ₦2,000 fee via Remita and upload clear, readable PDF copies of their O'Level and JAMB results. Failure to upload readable documents leads to automatic disqualification. O'Level results MUST also be uploaded to the JAMB CAPS portal.
