Overview

Federal Polytechnic Idah (commonly known as IDAHPOLY or FEPODA), located in the ancient town of Idah, Kogi State, is a premier federal technological institution established in 1977. Built on the philosophy of 'Technology for Self Reliance,' the polytechnic is dedicated to training disciplined, innovative, and globally competitive job creators rather than job seekers. Fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), FEPODA operates across five robust academic schools: the School of Engineering (SOE), School of Business Studies (SBS), School of General & Administrative Studies (SOGAS), School of Technology (SOT), and the School of Environmental Studies (SES).

Campus life at Federal Polytechnic Idah offers a vibrant and structured academic environment. Bounded by the majestic River Niger, the sprawling campus is fully equipped with heavy machinery workshops, standard laboratories, and dedicated directorates for ICT and Entrepreneurship Development (EDC). Students enjoy secure on-campus hostel accommodations priced at a highly affordable ₦20,000 per session. The institution prioritizes student welfare, security, and digital integration through its dedicated E-learning portal.

💡 Pro Tip: Securing admission into Federal Polytechnic Idah is highly accessible. Candidates who score a minimum of 100 in the JAMB UTME and possess five relevant O'Level credits are eligible to apply. Importantly, FEPODA does not conduct a stressful physical CBT Post-UTME exam; admission is determined via a transparent online credential screening on their official portal (forms.fepoda.edu.ng). You MUST upload your O'Level results to your JAMB CAPS portal. The polytechnic is also highly parent-friendly, allowing tuition to be split into two 50% installments across semesters, and fully supports the NELFUND student loan scheme.

Admission Requirements

Candidates must score a minimum of 100 in the UTME. Applicants must possess at least five (5) O'Level credit passes (WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB) in relevant subjects—including English Language and Mathematics—obtained at not more than two (2) sittings. Candidates MUST ensure their O'Level results are uploaded to their JAMB CAPS profile. Candidates who did not initially choose FEDPODA must perform a JAMB Change of Institution.

Direct Entry Rules

For Higher National Diploma (HND) admissions, candidates must possess a National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in the relevant field, alongside at least one year of mandatory post-ND industrial training (IT) experience. A separate Polytechnic admission form (₦20,000) is also required for new HND students.

Post UTME Screening Format

The polytechnic conducts an online admission screening exercise. Candidates are screened strictly based on a calculated aggregate of their JAMB UTME scores and O'Level grades. There is NO physical CBT examination.
