Candidates must choose AAUA as their first choice, score at least the baseline cut-off, and possess a minimum of five (5) O'Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. AAUA strictly enforces correct UTME subject combinations per course (e.g., Computing and Allied Health Sciences strictly require Physics and Chemistry). Candidates must be at least 16 years of age by September 30 of the admission year.

Direct Entry Rules

Direct Entry candidates must choose AAUA as their first choice and possess one of the following: a 1st Degree (Second Class Lower Division), ND (Upper Credit), HND (Lower Credit), JUPEB (minimum of 6 Points), or NCE (minimum of 8 Points). All DE candidates must participate in the online screening.

Post UTME Screening Format

AAUA conducts a mandatory online Post-UTME screening. Candidates are required to pay a total of ₦5,000 (₦2,000 for Post-UTME Registration and ₦3,000 for Portal Access Fee) via E-tranzact. O'Level results must be uploaded accurately to both the university portal and JAMB CAPS.

💡 AAUA conducts its undergraduate admission screening online, but the opening and closing dates vary by academic session. Candidates should apply promptly once the screening portal opens, ensure their O'Level results and other required details are correctly submitted, and monitor both the AAUA admission portal and JAMB CAPS throughout the admission period. Candidates using awaiting results must ensure the required results become available before the admission process is completed.

Competitiveness

DifficultyHigh
Applicant VolumeHigh applicant volume

AAUA admission competitiveness varies considerably by programme. Meeting the university's general UTME eligibility threshold does not guarantee admission, especially for high-demand programmes such as Law, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Accounting and Computing programmes. Candidates must also satisfy the correct UTME subject combination, O'Level requirements and programme-specific admission conditions. Admission processing may continue in stages after screening, so candidates should continue monitoring AAUA and JAMB CAPS even if they are not admitted immediately.

AAUA Hostel & Accommodation

Hostel Halls

Abena Hostel (Female, private, near main gate)

₦30,000-₦70,000 per session, per one source.

Pioneer Hostel (Female, on-campus area)

₦40,000-₦70,000 per session, per one source.

First-come, first-served, with priority given to fresh (100-Level) and final-year students.

AAUA has only three on-campus hostels in total all skewed toward female students plus one hostel reserved for students with disabilities. This limited on-campus capacity is the direct reason the majority of students live off-campus, consistent with your own expert_review guidance about off-campus hubs like Medoline and Oloko.

Hostel fee figures conflict significantly across sources two independent sources cite a flat ₦105,000, while others cite a much lower ₦20,000-₦60,000 range. This gap is too large to resolve with confidence from available sources; confirm current pricing directly with AAUA's hostel portal (hostel.aaua.edu.ng) before budgeting.

🎯

Admission Hack

AAUA recently scored a massive win by getting NUC approval for Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, and Public Health in July 2024. Because these programs are brand new, the admission pool is not yet as fiercely saturated as older universities, making it a brilliant strategic backdoor for health science applicants. However, beware of two strict administrative traps: first, AAUA strictly enforces a '16 years by September 30th' age limitif you are 15, the portal will automatically disqualify you. Second, for Direct Entry, note their specific grading rules: they will accept an HND with a Lower Credit, but if you are applying with an ND, it strictly MUST be an Upper Credit.

🏠

Campus Survival

Akungba-Akoko is a serene, student-dominated town famous for its undulating, hilly terrain. Because the university's on-campus hostels cannot accommodate the massive student population, the vast majority of 'AAUAites' live off-campus in popular student hubs like 'Medoline', 'Permanent Site (PS)', 'Oloko', and 'Etioro'. The cost of living, food, and rent here is significantly lower than in big cities like Lagos or Akure. However, because of the hills, the primary mode of transportation is motorcycles (Okada). When securing off-campus accommodation, strongly prioritize lodges that are within walking distance to the campus gate to save yourself from daily transport fares and the hassle of navigating the steep roads during the rainy season.
