Avoid the highly competitive screening baseline by targeting these safe score margins.
Safe Range
200 - 240
While the baseline JAMB UTME cut-off is 170, highly competitive programmes rigorously enforce higher benchmarks: Medicine and Surgery & Law require a minimum of 250; Nursing Science requires 210; and Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacy require 200.
Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Five (5) O'Level Credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at not more than two sittings (Note: Highly competitive federal departments frequently enforce a single-sitting rule).
The Post-UTME screening is document-based. Candidates must complete the online application via the university portal, upload proof of their O'Level results, and present original documents during physical clearance.
Direct Entry candidates must possess A'Level passes (JUPEB, IJMB, Cambridge) or relevant ND/NCE certificates. Inter-University Transfer candidates are accepted but must pay a mandatory ₦200,000 transfer fee and hold a minimum CGPA of 1.5 (or a highly competitive 3.5 for Health Sciences).
The single biggest mistake candidates make when applying for Nursing Science at VUNA is assuming that hitting the university's baseline general cut-off mark ensures eligibility for the screening process. Nursing operates inside highly restrictive capacity caps mandated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). If you score below the hard departmental minimum, your portal choice will face immediate drop filters regardless of aggregate score metrics.
