Overview

Covenant Polytechnic (CPA) is a fast-growing, private tertiary institution dedicated to skill acquisition and technological advancement. Originally established in 2005 as an autonomous private institution in Aba, the polytechnic has since expanded to a massive 100-acre permanent site in Umuogbu Village, Owerrinta, Abia State. Fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Covenant Polytechnic offers highly sought-after ND and HND programmes under its School of Business Administration & Management (BAM) and School of Applied Sciences (SAS). Uniquely, the institution also holds an NUC-approved affiliation with the University of Calabar (UNICAL), allowing it to award distinct B.Sc degrees.

Campus life at Covenant Polytechnic is structured to merge rigorous academic training with modern technological convenience. With its relocation to the serene Owerrinta permanent site, students enjoy spacious learning facilities, hands-on engineering workshops, and a dedicated 'CovenantPoly TV' broadcasting network. The institution heavily emphasizes digital literacy, providing a robust online portal where students can take computer-based exams (CBE), stream video lectures, and manage their academic results seamlessly. Notably, to foster integration and discipline, hostel living is compulsory for all first-year students.

💡 Pro Tip: Admission into Covenant Polytechnic is highly accessible and designed to accommodate various types of learners. Prospective Full-Time ND candidates need a minimum JAMB score of 120 and five relevant O'Level credits. The official admission form costs ₦10,000. If you did not initially select the institution, you can easily process a JAMB Change of Institution. During physical screening, you must provide 8 passport photographs and 3 copies of all standard credentials—importantly, your medical test must be conducted exclusively at the school clinic. Upon securing admission, prepare to pay the acceptance fee (₦28,000 for ND / ₦35,000 for HND) and note that the ₦40,000 hostel fee is mandatory for all freshers.

Admission Requirements

Candidates must score a minimum of 120 in the UTME. Applicants must possess at least five (5) O'Level credit passes in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB—including English Language and Mathematics. Candidates apply online by selecting 'new prospective applicant' and specifying their mode of study (Full-Time or Part-Time/Online). Online applications are typically processed rapidly within two (2) days, with the admission status sent directly via email.

Direct Entry Rules

For Higher National Diploma (HND) admissions, candidates must possess an SSCE result alongside a National Diploma (ND) from an NBTE-recognized institution with a minimum of Lower Credit. A minimum of one-year Post-ND Industrial Work Experience is mandatory.

Post UTME Screening Format

The polytechnic conducts a strict physical screening process requiring specific documents. ND candidates must present 3 copies each of: O'Level Result, JAMB Result, Local Govt Origin, Birth Certificate, Attestation Letter, Change of Institution slip, and a Medical Test Result (which MUST be conducted strictly at the school clinic), alongside 8 recent coloured passport photographs. HND candidates require the same, replacing the JAMB/Change of Institution slips with 3 copies of their ND Result and IT Letter.
