JAMB Cut-Off
150+
COOU strictly enforces a two-tier cut-off system. The general cut-off mark for most courses in Arts, Education, Natural Sciences, and Physical Sciences is 150. However, highly competitive professional programs—specifically Law, Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, and Pharmacy—strictly require a minimum JAMB score of 200.

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), formerly known as Anambra State University (ANSU), is a fast-growing, multi-campus state university in Nigeria. Established in 2000, it was renamed in 2014 to honor the legendary late Ikemba Nnewi. The university operates a massive academic infrastructure comprising 15 distinct faculties spread across three campuses: Igbariam (housing Arts, Law, Management, and Agriculture), Uli (housing Engineering, Physical Sciences, and Natural Sciences), and Awka (Amaku), which hosts the prestigious College of Medicine and Teaching Hospital.
Student life at COOU varies significantly depending on your campus location, but all campuses share a rigorous academic culture. The university has recently undergone a major digital transformation, launching a centralized mobile app that allows students to seamlessly handle fee payments, course registrations, result checking, and even AI-driven CGPA tracking. With active student unionism, sports facilities, and proximity to major commercial hubs in Anambra, COOU provides a vibrant tertiary experience.
💡 Pro Tip: Admissions at COOU are merit-based but highly structured. If you aim for the 'Big 5' courses (Medicine, Law, Nursing, Pharmacy, or Medical Laboratory Science), a JAMB score of 150 will not suffice; you must score 200 and above. For most other courses in the Physical Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Arts, 150 is acceptable. Ensure COOU is your First Choice institution. The school relies entirely on your O'Level and JAMB grades for its online Post-UTME screening, meaning you must ensure your documents are perfectly uploaded to both the COOU portal and the JAMB CAPS system to secure your admission.
Direct Entry candidates must possess an OND, HND, First Degree, or A'Level qualification in relevant disciplines. DE candidates must also register through the specific Direct Entry panel on the COOU portal.
COOU does not conduct a physical CBT exam for its Post-UTME. Instead, it uses an online document screening process. Candidates generate an invoice for ₦2,000 via Remita, pay online or at any bank, and upload their JAMB result slip and O'Level certificate(s) to the school portal. Critically, uploading O'Level results to the JAMB CAPS portal via an accredited CBT center is strictly mandatory to be considered for admission.
