The baseline JAMB UTME cut-off mark is 150 for general admission into the university. However, for regulated courses such as Medicine, Law, and Nursing, a strict minimum JAMB score of 200 is necessary.
Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Five (5) O'Level Credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at not more than two sittings (Note: Highly competitive federal departments frequently enforce a single-sitting rule).
BIU does NOT conduct a Post-UTME screening exam/exercise. Admission is strictly based on the candidate's JAMB UTME score, proper O'Level combinations, and the selection of Benson Idahosa University as the first choice of institution. Candidates simply pay an online application fee and submit their details on the portal.
Direct Entry (DE) candidates must obtain the JAMB DE form and possess relevant A-Level qualifications (JUPEB, IJMB), or OND/HND/NCE with at least a Credit pass in relevant fields. Admission is based on the aggregate score provided on the JAMB DE form.
The single biggest mistake candidates make when applying for Nursing Science at BIU is assuming that hitting the university's baseline general cut-off mark ensures eligibility for the screening process. Nursing operates inside highly restrictive capacity caps mandated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). If you score below the hard departmental minimum, your portal choice will face immediate drop filters regardless of aggregate score metrics.
