Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) is Nigeria's first and oldest higher educational institution. It started in October 1947 as Yaba Technical Institute, taking over the activities of the former Yaba Higher College. In 1963, it was officially renamed by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, and later gained full autonomy via Decree 23 of 1969. Historically at the forefront of technical education, YABATECH was notably the only college offering Higher Diploma courses in Nigeria until 1979.

Ensure your O'Level and UTME subject combinations perfectly match your chosen department's requirements, as YABATECH strictly enforces compulsory subjects like Mathematics and English across all boards. You must make YABATECH your first choice, upload your O'Level results to JAMB CAPS early, and rigorously prepare for the Post-UTME CBT.
For Higher National Diploma (HND), candidates require a relevant National Diploma (ND) at a minimum of Lower Credit from an NBTE-accredited institution, plus 1-year post-ND cognate work experience (or 2 years for Pass level). Direct Entry into 200-Level B.Sc. programmes requires application through the JAMB DE portal.
YABATECH conducts a Computer-Based Test (CBT) Post-UTME screening. Candidates must upload their O'Level results to JAMB CAPS. Final aggregate scores are calculated by dividing the JAMB score by 8 and the Post-UTME score by 2, then adding both together.
